Expanded compulsory coverage in construction means that people who own or run a business in construction, with or without employees, must have coverage with the WSIB and need to register with us (with some exceptions). Under current legislation, independent operators, sole proprietors, some partners in a partnership and some executive officers who work in construction must have WSIB coverage. You have 10 calendar days from the day you hire your first employee to register with us. For more information about your obligations see:
