Myocardial infarction (heart attack); stroke; aneurysm (blood clot); angina (chest pains); mitral valve

 

Dermatitis

All dermatitis claims, including latex sensitization and chemical burns

 

Environmental sensitivity

Conditions

Any of following: environmental hypersensitivity, multiple chemical sensitivity, 20th century disease, sick building syndrome, odour intolerance e.g. perfume, mould exposure
Food poisoning/ingestion injuries All food poisoning related illnesses e.g salmonella.  Any ingestion of a chemical with toxic or corrosive properties
Hand arm vibration syndrome (havs) Also known as vibration induced white finger disease (VIWFD) or Raynaud’s.   
Communicable/ infectious illness All infectious diseases, including:  hepatitis, scabies, shingles, TB, histoplasmosis,  Legionnaires Disease, Lyme Disease, rabies, H1N1, SARS, etc.
Needlestick injuries & blood bourne  pathogens Contact with blood or other bodily fluids via needlestick, transfusion during surgery for compensable injury, etc., involving risk for infectious diseases such as AIDS/HIV, hepatitis
Nervous system disorder 

- nausea, vomiting, syncope (fainting)

- polyneuropathies (e.g. loss of feeling in hands, feet, etc.)

- solvent induced neurotoxicity e.g. painter’s syndrome

Noise induced hearing loss All occupational noise induced  hearing loss except claims for deafness resulting from traumatic / sudden event  (e.g. explosion)
Pneumoconiosis

Asbestosis, silicosis, talcosis (exposure to talc)

 

Reproductive disorders

Resulting from occupational exposures

Therapeutic abortion or miscarriage in women; impotence or sterility in men
Respiratory disorders related  to acute or chronic workplace exposures

-Asthma, bronchitis, rhinitis, fibrosis, alveolitis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, emphysema

-COPD (chronic obstructive Pulmonary disease,  also called chronic obstructive lung disease)

-Second hand smoke induced complaints

-Metal fumes or  chemicals: lead, cadmium, ethylene oxide, PCB’s, vinyl chloride, aluminium, mercury, benzene, acrylonitrile, arsenic, isocynates, platinum, coke oven emissions

-Radiation (ionizing and non-ionizing)

-Noxious gases: sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ammonia, etc.

Scleroderma - silica and solvent exposure
