We offer a wide range of learning options, including self-paced and guided programs and in-depth training for those who work directly with the people we serve. We also offer tuition assistance, which provides financial support up to $2500 per year for people to continue their learning journey.

A summer with the WSIB provides you with real-world experience collaborating with professionals in your field, a competitive salary, the possibility of returning to the organization year-over-year and for some, a summer role that becomes a full-time position after graduation.

We hire summer students in all areas of our business including:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada. 
  • A post-secondary student who is enrolled full-time in a recognized institution in September 2025 OR a post-secondary student who has graduated from a recognized institution within the last 6 months. NOTE: Students in their final year must provide proof of enrollment in their last semester.
  • Available to work for the entire duration of the summer program (from May 5, 2025, to August 29, 2025).

Our recruitment process

We want you to have a positive experience throughout the recruitment process.

Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Position posted: In addition to our job portal, we post opportunities on job boards, university and college sites, and through professional associations.
  2. Position closed: We accept applications until the closing date listed on the job posting.
  3. Applications reviewed and shortlist determined: We review, assess and screen all of the applications. We will contact applicants who we select to move forward in the recruitment process.
  4. Preliminary testing for shortlisted candidates: We assess job skills and competencies in one or more ways. French testing will be conducted for bilingual positions.
  5. Interviews for shortlisted candidates: During the interviews, we will ask behavioural and technical questions, and may also conduct other assessments.

We will provide an update to all candidates who participated in the recruitment once we’ve made hiring decisions. The recruitment process can take up to 12 weeks to complete.

Resume and interview tips

Tips for writing your resume

  • Your resume should be tailored to the job you’re applying for.
  • Read the job posting carefully to identify the specific knowledge, skills and attributes you need.
  • Show how you meet the experience and education requirements of the job as stated on the job posting.
  • For your professional experience, highlight the title of your role, the name of the company and when you held the position (e.g., June 2017 to September 2020).
  • Proofread your resume to ensure there are no spelling mistakes or typographical errors.

Tips for preparing for your job interview

  • Use this opportunity to speak about how you used your knowledge and skills in the past, and how they will help you going forward.
  • Before you go to the interview, research the WSIB and be prepared to demonstrate how you would add value to the organization.
  • To help keep your responses clear, concise and relevant to the question, use the STAR technique when talking about past experience: clearly explain the situation, the task involved, the action you took and the end result.

Frequently asked questions about applying to the WSIB

How should I prepare for an assessment for the position?

We use assessments to evaluate key skills and competencies that are needed in the role. We recommend that you review our website to get a good understanding of our organization and read the job posting thoroughly. We will notify you if you are expected to prepare in any other way.

Why am I being asked about my diversity information?

As part of the application process, we ask you to voluntarily provide your diversity information. Like many other leading organizations, we are collecting diversity information for our own internal research to determine where we might have gaps and structural barriers that need to be addressed within our recruitment policies and processes. This is part of our commitment to building an inclusive work environment.

The diversity information you provide is kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with the people who make decisions about who to hire. We combine all of the information we collect into reports and take great care to ensure that no individual can be identified.

What does it mean when a job posting indicates that we are "recruiting for future opportunities to build a qualified candidate pool?"

For some positions, we look to build a qualified candidate pool for future vacancies.

Once you are notified that you have been placed in a qualified pool, you will remain there until vacancies arise.

We will notify candidates and provide updates on potential hire dates.

What should I do if I have technical issues when uploading my application to your job portal?

Here are some tips:

  • The system will let you upload only one document. Please ensure that your resume, cover letter and any other documentation are submitted as one document. Microsoft Word and PDF formats are preferred.
  • When uploading your document, please ensure the file name does not contain special characters, symbols or accents (e.g., : \ / ? * [ ] é).
  • If you are asked to respond to a questionnaire, the system will not accept your application until you have responded to all the questions. Please check that you have not left out any responses.

When can I expect to hear back?

The recruitment process can take up to 12 weeks to complete. We will provide an update to all candidates who participated in the recruitment once we’ve made hiring decisions.
