Exceptions

Minimum Burial Rate

The WSIB indexes the minimum burial rate annually according to the alternate indexing factor, the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The 2017 minimum burial rate is $3,025.25. For more information on the alternate indexing factor, see 18-01-02, Benefit Dollar Amounts - Accidents from 1998. For more information on burial expenses, see 20-03-02, Burial Expenses.

Hearing Devices

Up to and including January 8, 2017, billings for approved hearing aids at or below $1,000 per ear/per aid will receive expedited processing. See 17-07-04, Hearing Devices for the exception process for workers with special needs who require a hearing aid costing more than $1,000 per ear/per aid.

Application date

This policy applies to all expenses incurred on or after January 1, 2017, for all injuries/diseases.
